Areas of Practice
Accidents If you or your family suffers an injury because of a defective product, medical malpractice, industrial mishap or work-related accident, negligence, or an automobile accident, even though you are covered by the Minnesota No Fault Act, you are legally entitled to a settlement for your medical expenses and for such additional items as lost earnings, pain, disfigurement, embarrassment and emotional distress. In all personal injury cases, our firm does not charge any attorney fees unless we recover money for you.
Litigation Our firm's litigation practices deal extensively with general and business litigation including construction claims and litigation, real estate, business litigation, contracts suits, employment law, labor litigation, social security claims, and more.
Wills & Estate Planning Many people never get around to preparing a will because they think it is too costly or that they don't have enough property to justify a will. Yet without a will, the State of Minnesota will determine how your property is divided. A will and proper pre-death planning offer the greatest freedom to dispose of property as desired. A few hours spent now with our staff will ensure that your property is divided according to your wishes. If you already have a will or estate plan, we would be pleased to examine it and make recommendations and revisions that will be beneficial to you and your family.
Estate planning also involves the proper planning of the affairs of the elderly, including long-term institutionalization and its alternatives, the coordination of Social Security, medical assistance and other government benefits and regulations.
DWI Defense Here is some free legal advice: If you are thinking about drinking and driving... don't. It's as simple as that. The criminal charges and driver's license consequences of a DWI in Minnesota are among the nation's toughest. If you are arrested and convicted of driving while intoxicated or driving under the influence of a controlled substance or a combination of the two, you may incur one or more of the following consequences:
- Criminal penalties, including fine and /or jail sentence.
- Revocation of your driver's license.
- In addition, it is likely that your insurance company will cancel your policy or greatly increase the policy premium.
The DWI law is complicated, and in all cases you should have the advice of an attorney in order to ensure that your legal rights are properly protected.
Real Estate Whether it be residential or commercial, real estate represents a large volume of work for our firm. Our staff is trained and experienced in working with real estate professionals and financial institutions. Whether we represent a buyer or seller, every document is prepared not only to meet the immediate closing requirements but is also evaluated as to the long-term implications of every detail it contains.
Wrongful Death If a family member or next of kin dies from the negligent acts (faults) of another, a claim must be made within three years of the negligent act. The Trial Specialists at the Trenti Law Firm are experienced and skilled to handle any type of wrongful death claim.
Business & Corporate Law Some of our attorneys focus on business and corporate law. Much of their work involves the preparation of documents necessary to do business in Minnesota or to sell or purchase a business in Minnesota.
Whether your needs involve incorporation, partnership agreements, buy and sell agreements, business sales agreements, mergers, nonprofit corporations, or other business matters, our experienced attorneys will be pleased to assist you. Our firm represents many business clients in the areas of commercial purchase agreements, leases, and land development matters such as zoning and subdivision of real estate.
Probate The term probate means "the legal process of transferring the assets of a decedent to the heirs or other people and/or institutions." Four of our attorneys concentrate much of their practice in the area of probate law. Much of the legal work in the field of probate involves identifying and locating the assets of a decedent, development of a plan for the distribution of assets and the filing and processing of required court documents.
In all cases, our firm encourages clients to consider "pre-death planning" (preparing or updating a will, tax and estate planning, etc.) so that a smooth and orderly transfer of assets takes place.
Family Law Our firm has a substantial practice in family law matters. The term "family law" is a relatively new phrase, though it includes such traditional areas as divorce, custody matters and child support. Contemporary family law covers the area of legal services, which relates to the way our families and society have changed over the years. The laws which govern the rights of families are continuing to expand and change rapidly. Also included within the family law practice are adoption, juvenile matters, visitation, paternity rights and special mediation and arbitration services.
No Fault Insurance Minnesota is an automobile no-fault state. This means that your own automobile insurance pays for your medical expenses, wage loss, rehabilitation, replacement loss services, and mileage benefits for injuries suffered in this accident. You may and should recover for your pain and suffering and emotional distress from the at fault driver.
Underinsured & Uninsured Coverage If the at fault driver does not have adequate insurance coverage to pay for your pain and suffering and emotional distress, you may and should pursue a claim against your own insurance company for underinsured benefits. If the at fault driver does not have insurance coverage, you may and should pursue a claim for pain and suffering and emotional distress against your own insurance company.
